As an architecture enthusiast, I thought there couldn’t be a better way to show my appreciation for the architecture of my country than to design a collection with its most iconic structures that have history of Bangladesh incorporated with it and also have distinct architectural features which make them recognizable at first glance. We looked at pictures, sometimes went on site to draw them, just to make sure their essence was captured to the best of our ability. It took almost a year to conceptualize the idea and have it ready on paper to be integrated with our product designs. As a Bangladeshi architect and designer, it was my small way to pay homage to the beautiful heritage buildings of my beloved Dhaka city, the city I grew up in. My aim was also to promote them in front of people who might not know about them, and celebrate them with those who knew. We created a series of products with this illustration, from clothing to accessories to cut Coffee mugs in the hope that more people will find them interesting and want to know more the country and it’s heritage.
